A Girl Scouts insignia is a representation of her successes within the organization, so it is imperative that troop leaders have the perfect embroidered patches to hand out to their little troopettes.

It all initiates with finding the right place to shop so an internet search is a good place to begin. There are many online stores that customize Girl Scout patches with several different styles and options for them to choose from.

For instance; they can be ordered with a regular backing to be sewn on to the garments for a more permanent effect, in an iron on style which only lasts around twenty to thirty washes, or with plastic backing that is the most sturdy. There is also the possibility of Velcro and double-sided tape patches as well.

There are many other options to consider when deciding which patch is the right one for the troops. Size; for example is an important factor that must be determined. The range is normally from two inches to twelve inches with half sizes available in-between.

These items are typically ordered in bulk, so the more that is ordered; the cheaper the price will be per patch. For example, on one site, twenty, two inch patches are $4.08ea; however, two thousand of the same size patches are $0.34 each. Because these items are so custom made, it is usually recommended that the troop leaders call in for a price quote before placing an order. The amount is typically determined by three main factors including quantity, size, and the amount of embroidery the patch have on it. Some sights may charge extra for additional colors outside of their standard colors as well.

Girl Scout patch distributors can usually work with any sort of logo or design; however, they do not recommend using photos because they do not translate well to embroidery due to their extensive range of color and detail. If the customer does not have a logo or design already, they have designs for them to choose.

Custom scout patches can be purchased from several different sources, so it is a good idea to shop around. Things to consider would be the quality of design, type of threads, the type of backs that are needed, the time in which they will be needed by, if the distributor offers free shipping and artwork, and price per unit. Since not all patch companies are the same it is a good idea to call the company and get a good sense of what they offer and what kind of quality they provide. The cheaper the patch usually the more likely you going to have problems with customer service, art, shipping, materials, and quality.
